STAR WARS THE SAGA CONTINUES EPISODE I: INTRO THE COMIC BOOK BLOG:
FOR FANS OF STAR WARS, THE GREATEST SPACE FANTASY OF ALL TIME, IN 1977 MOVIES HEROES & VILLIANS HAD SELDOM BEEN SPACE ORIENTED EXCEPT IN A LONG TIME AGO, IN A GALAXY FAR FAR AWAY, LIKE DECADES BEFORE, WHEN BUCK ROGERS & FLASH GORDON WERE MAKING A SPLASH ON THE BIG SCREEN!
SCIENCE FICTION, AS IN SPACE BATTLES, WAS A BIT OF A NICHE MARKET THAT ONLY A FEW HITS WERE MADE OF, AND ENTERING THAT YEAR, 1977, [MORE TO COME...]
dARTH vADER'S ORIGIN, THE FIRST TIME LUKE MEETS VADER, HOW HAN SOLO BECAME WHO HE IS, THE CLONE WARS BEGINS IN COMICS, HOW THE FIRST HINT OF WHAT STAR WARS WAS GOING TO BE LIKE, THE SETS, THE STORY, THE CHARACTERS, LUKE SKYWALKER'S LIFE, DARTH VADER DIRECTORS CUT, ACTION FIGURES COVER THE COMIC BOOKS, STAR WARS VARIANT COVERS TAKE OVER MANY UNIVERSES, THE STORY OF JAXXON, THE MOST CHARACTERLY CHARACTER IN STAR WARS, THE LEGEND TO COME FOR STAR WARS #7, HOW MARVEL MADE A KILLING OFF STAR WARS AND SAVED A CULLING!
Star Wars comics were close to the ONLY thing fans coming out of the theater back then could buy to remind them of what they just saw on the big screen...
It no doubt would boogle the mind of anyone coming of age AFTER 1977, when its influence would soon cause both movies & TV programs to become known in the industry simply as 'TOYS R US' [...toys are us ] as that was the main point for their being born, though many would go on to long lives as beloved memories with (luckily...whew!...) great premises attached to them!
Starting in 2015, Marvel Comics, thanks to its relatively new-found parent company's thoughtfullness in securing for them the rights to the film from another recently perchased enitity, LucasFilms, were able to, once again become the home to all STAR WARS comics output.
It would a few years later, surprisingly, give up a piece of that pie after learning, 'you can't eat your cake and have it too' when, to no one's surprise, the immensity of quality filled comic book titles featuring "a long time ago" stories overshadowed any hope of Marvel establishing a somewhat separate, toned down all-ages brand of series as well...
Star Wars comics published monthly geared to the beginner reader crowd were smartly farmed out to a rival publisher, but not too rival, that of the 1999 concieved 'Idea and Design Works' or IDW for short.
IDW itself was launched & 'future-funded' by the success of its own comic-turned-HOT-comic-turned-film, '30 Days Of Night' before distancing itself from horror & opting to be the home for licensed comics fare such as GI JOE, My Little Pony, Transformers, & many more, now including 'Star Wars Adventures'.

Caesar: Hey man, are you ok?
Huey: A friend of mine back home just died...I never got to say goodbye, you know? I keep wishing he'll come back as a blue ghost, like Obi-Wan Kenobi. There's so much I want to say to him. [sigh] Why can't life be like Star Wars?
Caesar: Well, then Jar-Jar Binks would be real, and there'd be a bunch of Ewoks running around everywhere - nobody wants that...
Huey: A small price to pay if the people you love could come back as blue ghosts.
